Low Countries History Award
The Low Countries History Award was established by the Royal Netherlands Historical Society (RNHS/KNHG) in 2015 and constitutes a tri-annual best article award of the journal BMGN-LCHR. The award consists of a prize of € 3.500 and a one year subscription to the printed edition of BMGN-Low Countries Historical Review. The price has been awarded for the first time at the Annual Conference of the RNHS on November 4, 2016 at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. Articles with a publication date of 2016, 2017 and 2018) are eligible for consideration for the 2019 award. Elements that will be taken into account by the jury include the quality of the research on which the article is based, the quality of both the writing and the composition of the text, and the degree in which the article succeeds in positioning the significance of Low Countries history within contemporary historiography at large. Articles written or (co)-authored by members of the Editorial Board of BMGN-LCHR or former members (2016-2018) and RNHS-board members are not eligible.
